I wrote this poem last night after much research for an upcoming article about the sacred feminine principle, and a wonderful conversation w a Facebook friend… I’d like to dedicate this piece to my mom, Sylvie Kerr. She has always known the light inside of me, even when my perception was too dark for me to see it.
She called me forth from the depths of the abyss.
Answering, I stepped forward into her shocking light
With eyes new and vulnerable, and so was blinded.
Stumbling in the dark, I clawed my way up the
Jagged cliffs of the great mountain.
When I summited, my fear of her awesome power
Knocked me over the other side, and I fell
Again onto the valley floor where she
Swallowed me up in her sweet embrace.
Then in the safety of her arms, I saw
Her glory with eyes renewed and felt
Her fearsome power rise within me.
My own light reflected back to me, a tiny star
In the great expanse of her night.
